The Best Way to Treat Eye Strain

The best way to treat eye strain is to prevent it but if it's too late for you then there are several ways that you can do this.

Keep Your Eyes Closed:

Whilst this can be tough to do keeping your eyes closed during the day and night as much as possible helps quite a lot. Consider buying a sleeping mask to wear when your eyes really start to hurt during the day. You can even get some that have essential oils infused in the grains inside the mask - just be careful if you have allergies or a pre-existing eye condition that might be made worse by the oils.

Sleep:

A steaming towel or a heating pad held close to the eyes without being pressed on them works well to reduce the pain. Stay Hydrated:

Drink lots of water. Stay away from foods that dehydrate you, such as caffeine-based drinks like tea, coffee and cola.

Eye Drops:

Natural tears may work very well for you. Buy some and try them out for yourself. Some eye drops are made with castor oil that may cause side-effects for some users. It is better to use drops that are made with aleurites, camelina, maize or olive oil.

Stretch Your Neck and Massage Your Face:

If the muscles of your head and neck are tense this might be contributing to the eye strain. People often find it helps quite a bit to relax the shoulders by rotating them gently.

Don't Sleep in Contacts:

Sleeping in them can cause extra strain on the eyes and dry them out.

Whilst most people do not have a very severe condition you need to make sure that you don't take your eye sight for granted. Your eyes are just too important. Take breaks and get some rest. Preventing eye strain is easy but suffering through a severe case is pure hell.
