Poor Quality Sleep Can Mean Dark Circles, Tired & Puffy Eyes

Is your skin plump, firm and even toned, are your eyes bright and alert? If that is what you see then you are probably not only looking after your skin but paying attention to the needs of your body too. Our skin will reflect our diet and our overall health. Beauty is a combination of many things, personality, confidence, lifestyle and health, taking care to get this all functioning correctly in both body and mind will result in a more youthful and radiant appearance, you'll feel and look good too,

However, if what you see is dull and sallow looking skin and eyes that look tired and weary with dark circles and puffiness you may not be achieving the correct combination, you may not be getting enough sleep, having enough exercise, eating the right diet and you may need to consider the kind of lifestyle that you lead. Health and lifestyle are both important factors in any happinesslifetime.com skin care regime. If you are unhappy tired or stressed it will show instantly in your skin. Learning to relax more and de-stress will not only ease the pressures on your mind but also your body and your skin.

In our modern day lives winding down at the end of a busy day is easier said than done, you have been at work and a difficult day has had you working under pressure to achieve targets or deadlines or you might have been at home with the children and all the pressures that can bring but you must learn to cut off and leave the pressures behind at the end of the day. Taking work problems home or trying to resolve any domestic issues during the evening time will only trigger stress levels that in turn will make a good night's sleep that more difficult and prevent you from getting the extra sleep you need, not only extra hours of sleep but quality sleep too.

Good quality sleep at night will not only be vital for good health and the restoration of energy but will also be vital for maintaining good looking skin, and a more youthful appearance. During sleep time new growth hormones are released that renew and repair the tissues and cells that make up the skin's structure, giving new life and thereby preventing what is in effect the premature aging process.

Even following one night of poor sleep, you might see physical symptoms appearing in the form of dark circles under the eyes, puffiness around the eyes or sallow and dull looking skin.

If we want to maintain a healthy and more youthful appearance, it is important that we achieve regular good quality sleep at the end of a busy and tiring day. So how can we help ourselves achieve that?

Firstly begin a regular sleep pattern by going to bed and getting up at the same time each day so that your body clock becomes accustomed to both sleeping and waking at regular times of the day.

If sleep does not come easy because you are fretting or worrying over something or other then it may help to write down the problem on a piece of paper and place it by your bed, it could help ease the pressure from your mind. Make out a "to do" list for tomorrow!

During the day get some fresh air and exercise even if it is only a brisk walk. If you have the time yoga will exercise your body and relax your mind too.

Avoid heavy meals late at night, try to finish eating at least an hour before bed but if you need a late snack it should be light such as a yogurt, nothing too heavy that might be difficult to digest. Avoid stimulating drinks like tea, coffee or cola last thing at night and no alcohol

Relax in the period leading up to bedtime, take a warm bath. A warm milky drink might well be of some benefit too.

Ensure your bedroom is not overheated and stuffy, allow some ventilation. In the summer months ensure curtain linings are able to shut out light in the early mornings.

Use sleeping pills only as a last resort and not without careful consideration, your body can become accustomed to them so as they will soon have little effect. Finding one that is stronger will only lead to eventual addiction. Natural quality sleep is so much better.

At any age or whatever stage you are at in life the better you sleep, the better you'll look and feel so manage your stress levels, relax more and take some regular exercise and of course, Sleep Well!
