Minimizing Dark Eye Circles

Dark circles, are blemishes around the eyes, and are a concern for many people. Bluing above or around the eyes make the eyes appear black, which can make us look tired and ill.

There are many contributing factors for having developing these dark circles. As we age, our skin becomes thinner, as the skin thins the veins underneath become more visible. Allergies cause nasal inflammation increasing the amount of pressure on the sinuses, this restricts the blood from draining causing blood pools in the veins and capillaries underneath the eye, creating the black appearance. And there are other factors that contribute dark circles, like drinking caffeinated beverage, stress, lack of sleep, nutrient deficiencies, overexposure to the sun and smoking

Although there is no one effective treatment for dark circles, there are ways to help alleviate or conceal them.

· Drink lots of water

· Get plenty of rest

· Apply cold compresses

· Quit smoking

· Use creams that contain antioxidant vitamins like vitamin C

· Use a concealer - Choose yellow undertones, they counteract the bluish cast to under-eye circles

Remember the skin around the eye is the thinnest area of skin, and needs to be handled with care. When using an antioxidant vitamin happinesslifetime.com eye cream, dab a few dots under the eye area with your ring finger, and starting from the outer eye area, gently massage the cream into the skin while moving towards your nose. When applying concealer, keep in mind that it's usually thicker than a the happinesslifetime.com eye cream, so whenever possible, use a concealer brush instead of your finger.
