Some More Thoughts On The Problem Of Dark Circles Under The Eyes

Although late to bed and living the high life are often blamed as the root cause of those tired eyes, dark circles under the eyes and a pallid complexion it is often not as straightforward.

Lack of sleep and too much alcohol is known to have an adverse affect on our skin. A paler complexion will of course allow leaking or broken tiny blood vessels beneath the skin become more noticeable but getting earlier to bed and restricting yourself to one glass of wine with your meal will not on it's own necessarily change what you see in the mirror when waking each morning.

What then can be other causes of that darkened area of skin under your eyes that is contributing to you looking tired and weary and sometimes even making you look older than you really are?

Inherited Characteristics. Genetic skin hyper-pigmentation can be the cause of the dark blue area of skin beneath the eyes and really there is little that you can do save for consulting a Dermatologist for help. Otherwise look for a skin lightening cream or choose a concealer to cover the area and blend in with other more natural looking areas of skin.

Allergies. Allergies can be to blame in some cases, an allergy to certain foods, some pets/animals along with dust and pollen can have an effect on your eyes. If you notice adverse reactions in certain instances it may be worth monitoring each situation separately to test which is having the most effect.

Fluid Retention. Some Medical conditions cause fluid retention (e.g. heart, thyroid, kidney, liver diseases) and even some medications that cause blood vessel dilation may be a factor. Make your doctor aware of any symptoms you are experiencing.

Anemia. An iron deficiency can be the cause of dark eye circles as well as the Anemia itself, it can result in a dark bluish colouring in the skin under the eye areas,

Vitamin Deficiencies. Foods rich in vitamin C can strengthen blood vessels and prevent leakage whilst those containing the vitamin K can help coagulation again assisting with the problem of those tiny blood vessels under the eye area leaking and showing through a thinner or paler area of skin. Eat a better diet or you can look for happinesslifetime.com eye creams containing the vitamin K.

However, those under medical supervision and taking "blood-thinning" drugs such as Warfarin and aspirin should consult their Doctor before increasing an intake of the vitamin K.

Dehydration. Dehydration can cause a certain amount of discolouration around the under eye areas and so as we are often advised in so many happinesslifetime.com skin care regimes drink plenty of water, it's that easy.

Sun Damage. Too much exposure to the sun is not good we all know that by now but is it so well known that it can badly affect your skin causing early aging in the form of lines and wrinkles and dark circles under your eyes?

Keep out of the sun as much as possible and wear a high factor sun cream. If you must lie in the sun there is no "safe time " but choose a time when the sun is starting to loose strength, sometime after 3 in the afternoon on a summers day.

The moral of the story therefore? ........ Yes, by all means get a long and good night's sleep and improve your lifestyle, it will benefit your health and those dark circles under your eyes but there are other considerations that you need to think about too.
